Birthday and Prom

Katelyn and I headed to Austin for my birthday!  We enjoyed the view of the bluebonnets on the drive up, but were very happy to be there.  We did not have many plans which was a nice change.  Thursday even, we just hung out and relaxed.  Friday we decided to head out and run some errands.  Its amazing how much we can accomplish in a short amount of time.  After a long errand day, mom and I enjoyed watching The Help while Katelyn napped.  I love movie time, but rarely get to watch them since Chris is not a movie fan.  Needless to say, its a welcomed treat for me.  On Saturday (Happy Birthday to me), we headed over to the park for some playtime.  The weather was perfect, so it was packed, but we had a great time on the playground and walking along the lake.  Later that day, we headed over to Aunt Judy's.  As luck would have it, Steph and Maddie's prom was also on my birthday...yahoo!  We got there just in time to get some pictures of the girls in the bluebonnets in their backyard.  They are so pretty and the girls all dressed up...what a sight!!  While they went to drop off cars and get in the limo, we headed to the neighbors house for some more bluebonnet pics of Katelyn and then down to the river for a few fun water pictures.  Before we knew it, it was time to go meet up with the girls to finish up the prom pictures.  Prom is so different from when I was in high school.  They wear a lot more short dresses and hair down.  The girls were beautiful and so excited.  It was fun to be part of their special day.  On the way home, we stopped by HEB to pick up food for a yummy surf and turf birthday dinner compliments of Mark.  It was tasty!  We also picked up a small swimming pool for Katelyn to enjoy the rest of the evening and Sunday.  Its amazing what a $10 pool can do for a kid.  All, in all, it was a fun birthday weekend.

Happy Birthday Patsy!

Happy Birthday Patsy!  We celebrated Patsy's birthday with a yummy dinner (thanks Chris) and yummy cupcakes!  Katelyn loved having her Granny and Grandpa over and celebrating.

34 Months!

Typical day at the racetrack!  Working hard on her bike while daddy and grandpa are working hard on the racecar.

 Snuggles with Nana.

Chris appears to be ready for a little sweating to the oldies!

Steph trying on Chris' new helmet...haha!
 And no Maddie's turn.

 A cowgirl in the making??

K's first trip to the Houston Rodeo.

 All the ladies!

Katelyn is a whiz on the ipad!  Kids and technology these days.  Guess I might have to break down and get one so that she can play with mine.

A future healthcare provider?

Chris and Haley were playing which resulted in Chris getting a scratch on his arm.  No worries daddy...Doctor Katelyn to the rescue.  She headed for the bandaids and fixed him all up.

Happy Valentines Day!

Chris and I do not do Valentine's typically, but since Katelyn's arrival, its become very fun to do it up big for her!  I spent Sunday baking and creating in the kitchen and putting together her Valentine's treats.  It was lots of fun and she was very excited to take all the goodies to school on Monday.

Super Bowl

The Kelly's joined us for Super Bowl again this year.  Its kinda become a tradition and lots of fun.  So sad for the New England Patriots and Diane this year!  They are now 0 for 2 against the Giants.  I think the next time they play in the Super Bowl, we are gonna have to move this party somewhere else to try and bring them more luck.  Katelyn was thrilled that her "baby sister Erin" was coming over to play.  She talked about it all day long.  Usually she is very shy when people first get here, but she was thrilled to see Erin and joined right in on the fun.  It was nice for the adults as well.  The girls entertained each other and we were able to catch up.

A visit with old friends...

At the end of January, we enjoyed a nice dinner with some old friends who were in town visiting.  We have not seen Tish and Terry in about 5 yrs.  It was wonderful to see them again and catch up.  Hopefully it won't be another 5 yrs before we see them again.

Doughnuts

I got a doughnut pan (and a mini doughnut pan) for Christmas from my mom.  I LOVE doughnuts and was very excited to give them a try.  A sunny Saturday morning was the perfect chance.  Katelyn was eager to help (as she always is).  Although the recipe did not make the tastiest doughnut, it was fun to make, glaze and top them with fun sprinkles.  Katelyn thought they were fantastic and thought the sprinkles were even better.  I am not sure what she ate more of...the doughnuts or the sprinkles...haha!  Needless to say, we will be trying these again once we find a new recipe!
