While I was feeding Katelyn dinner, Chris turned on the Texans football game. When Katelyn saw it, she immediately looked up and said, "Mama, I all done. I go watch game with daddy." She proceeded to climb out of her chair, run to her toy area and grab her purse. She then headed over to the sofa and sat down with Chris. She pulled her phone out of her purse and began chatting away!! It was so cute!!

Learning to pedal
We are so ready for this stupid hot weather to be GONE! My poor kid wants to play outside so badly and quite frankly, I want to be outside as well, but its too dang hot. At 6pm its still over 100deg. CRAZY!! So what did we do today, we played for a few min in the garage. Katelyn pulled out her bike and wanted to ride back and forth in the garage. Since shes grown quite a bit since Christmas, we tried to get her to pedal. She doesn't quite have it down, but did well for her first attempt! Now, if we could get some decent weather and could practice outside, she will have it down pat in no time!

Erin's 1st Birthday Party
Erin turns 1 on Monday! Whoa...time flies fast. We were able to join the Kelly's for the celebration yesterday. Diane's mom and sister were in town as well. Erin is so cute! Shes just started walking and has perfected the "Frankenstein" walk (which I love). She enjoyed playing with all her new toys and was very entertained watching Katelyn and Craig play. She was also very attached to Chris...its so funny!

Balancing Act
There are some days I feel so on top of things. Like I have everything balanced out just perfect. There are other days, I just cannot seem to get even the slightest balance. As I was rocking Katelyn tonight before bed, I was thinking about all of the different things I have to juggle....being a wife, a mom, work, housework, yard work, pet owner, friend, family, etc. When does one time find to devote the appropriate amount of time to each of those things? I am assuming it's something that no one perfects. Its a constantly changing balancing act.
New racing gear
Since Jim is unable to drive, hes been spending a lot more time at home and on the internet. What does that mean, well that means Katelyn's racing wardrobe has increased! Last weekend Chris came home with these 3 awesome new shirts for the princess. They are so cute! Katelyn was thrilled about them actually. She saw the Jeg's one first and said, "Mama ook, racecar!".
In case they are hard to read, they say the following:
Top Left: Stroller today, Corvette tomorrow, Little squirt
Top Right: Big wheel with flames and it says Drag Racer
Bottom: I'm a Jeg's Princess (Jeg's sells racing stuff)
Shes going to be so in style at the racetrack this fall!!

Cleaning and helping!
My kid is obsessed with cleaning! It is next to impossible to clean anything without "mama, I clean" (although not that clear). Any time we have to clean up a cat or dog mess...she's right there ready to help. Who knew.
And if she's not helping clean, she trying to help fix things! Chris fell into the dishwasher...yes you read that right, and we were trying to fix it. She wanted to help so bad, so I sent her to get her hammer and screwdriver. What did she come back with? Her keys! Needless to say, those were working so she headed to the garage to try and find some real tools. She was successful and came back with a real screwdriver and tried her best to help. I was laughing so hard, I barely got any pictures of the whole situation.

Children's Museum
Last weekend we took Katelyn to the Children's Museum. Its supposed to be one of the better ones and I have heard nothing but great things about it. So off we went.
Wow is really all I can say. There is so much going on in that place. Its very neat. We went on a Saturday, so it was packed, but that did not seem to bother Katelyn. She loved watching all of the other kids. Chris and I not only enjoyed watching, but playing as well. While most of the activities were above her age, she had a great time. She was thrilled with the golf ball roller coaster. She visited HEB to do a little grocery shopping and practice checking out. She got to paint, play, and slide. Outside she was able to see how locks and dams work and to do a little more sliding. We will definitely go back when shes a little bit older and can understand a little more.

Time for catch up!
Where does the time go? I feels like we just got back from vacation a week or so ago, but its almost been a month. I am not quite sure what we have been up to since getting back other than trying to get back into routine.
Chris has been trying to get the racecar back into racing shape since the 2nd half of racing season is coming quickly. He's also been learning to drive the motor home since his dad cannot drive until Christmas Day. Labor Day weekend will be the first trip back to the drag strip since June. I know Chris is anxious to get back, but as it turns out, so is Katelyn. She's been talking about it more and more.
Another up (and down)...potty training! When we got back from vacation, Katelyn's teachers mentioned that she was very interested in watching her friends go potty and had expressed interest in wanting to try. We were all for it, so we packed extra outfits, panties, and such for school the next day. She did really well Wednesday and Thursday of that week and tried numerous times both days. Never went, but was happy to try. Then Friday came and when I picked her up, it was printed large on her daily sheet "Katelyn refused to try and potty today". Since that day she has been refusing to even try! She looks at you and say NO and walks away. What a stinker!! Needless to say, we have moved on and will revisit the potty training thing again at a later date. We have instead replaced the potty training war with the binky war. Katelyn is highly attached to her "B" as she calls it. She would have it every second of every day if we let her. Well, Chris and I are kinda tired of chasing them through stores and whatnot, so we just decided to see how the day would go without one. Tomorrow (Saturday), it will have been 1 week of only getting her "B" for bed and nap time. The first few days after school were rough and there were tears when she didn't get blanky and "B" when she got home. Today, however, was much better. She asked once, I told her no and she moved on. I think the plan is to let her have it for nap and bedtime only for a little bit and then gradually start taking it away. We might just conquer this "B" thing after all.
As for me, well I am still doing the same old thing. Still doing weight watchers. As of Tuesday I was down 16.5lbs since the end of March. My goal is still a little ways out, but I am steadily going down and that is all I can hope for. I feel amazing and am loving shopping again (so much more fun with all the cute things you want to wear actually fit and look good). I have also developed a friendship with working out. I used to hate it, but now if I miss a workout, I do not feel as good. It all started with the weight watchers 5K walk. To help my co-worker stay accountable, I did it with her (and my mom). After "training" for that, I had gotten into a routine. I also noticed I felt better and life just seemed a little less stressful. So, once the walking 5K was over, I started the couch to 5K running program. Its a 9 week program that helps you building up from nothing to running a 5K. I will be completing week 7 this weekend and just signed up to run my first 5K on Sept. 25 and my 2nd on Oct. 1...yep just a week apart. I am nervous and excited all that the same time. I have discovered that I enjoy my running time these days. Its time for just me. I can think, I can listen to music, I can zone. Its a great stress relief.

Day 8- So sad its time to go!
Saturday came so quickly! I feel like we were in San Diego for so long, yet there was still so much to do. Guess that means we have to go back. Since we had an afternoon flight, we got up early and headed to La Jolla for a few more adventures. Our first stop, dad's office. They are doing some amazing things there and have an amazing place to work. Since he's doing different work these days, it was good to catch up on whats going on with his job. From there, we headed to the Children's Pool. This is an area that was created as a place for kids to play on the beach. Apparently the sea lions and seals loved it, they started taking over. While it is still a public beach, the marine life typically covers most of it. The day we were there, the marine life was mostly in the water, but they were there! We got to see some sea lions playing in the waves and some colorful fish. Even though I have heard its pretty stinky, I think it would be so fun to see the beach covered with sea lions and/or seals. There is just something so neat about seeing marine life in their natural habitat.
After seeing all the sea life, we went for a brunch just up the road. It was very tasty. The pancakes they made for Katelyn were out of this world good. They tasted like they had a hint of orange.
From there, it was off to the airport. So sad to leave because we had such a great time. San Diego is amazing. There is so much to do and the weather (yes I know, I have said it a million times) is perfect!!
